Certainly not from the Stone Age but closer to the fictional Kryptonite, Crystal Rock appears in the cave of the future as an ambassador to the fusion of nature and man, light and reflection, transparency and mass. All these characteristics are gathered within a perfectly cut, yet roughly sculpted contemporary silex. Its multiple reflections and deflections fascinate onlookers during the day and even more at night, when lighted.

Neverending Glory

The Frozen collection was inspired by the transformation of water into ice. Velčovský allows the glass to spill over a metal form and seeks advantage in its natural properties. Each piece traces a unique record of the process, becoming an original. The author found inspiration among pieces of ice created by nature and applied that element of randomness in nature to his craft in the context of glassmaking.

And Why Not!, Sculpture, Base Size, Clear

Rene Roubicek´s chandelier designed for Lasvit named by its author “And why not!” refers to his lifelong experimentation and searching compositions and forms incarnated in glass. The chandelier´s emotionally intense sculptural form resembles a flash and is an evolution of Roubicek´s core designs based on dynamic abstraction. Light gliding on large smoothly polished surfaces while absorbed by the mass of the glass creates a unique atmosphere.

Duna was inspired by the coherent yet abstract logic of dune formations that defy traditional Cartesian geometries. Its design concept is realized in a three dimensional, asymmetrical, pair of intersecting glass forms. The striated surface of the crystal glass produces ever-changing effects of reflection and refraction. Narrowly directed light sources beam light through the mass of glass into the entire glass element, highlighting its geometry.

Following the success of his Crystal Rock pendant lights, LASVIT has extended this versatile design line with its vases. All these characteristics are gathered within a contemporary silex that interacts between light and darkness.

Design of Ludwig collection is striving to establish balance between past and future. The bygone romantic era with its neoclassical proportions is reinterpreted with essentially slick, streamlined forms. While the contours remain loyal to their neoclassical style chandelier references, the use of industrial glass tubes imbues this family of spectacular lights with an airy and strikingly modern elegance.

The Frozen collection was inspired by the transformation of water into ice, the element of randomness used in the context of glassmaking. Glassmakers understand that their material always ‘freezes’ at some moment in the process and only the most skilled hands are capable of creating a unique form. Each piece traces a unique record of the process, becoming an original all of its own.

The unique edition of vases called “Chřibská 1414” carries on the 600-year legacy of Chřibská glassworks near Nový Bor. LASVIT fashioned the four distinctly colored vases made from industrial glass according to the original design of artist Josef Hospodka, who created them in the 1950s, and which went on to receive high acclaim at the World EXPO of 1958.

Muster Cup allows one to peer into a glass as if it were a kaleidoscope. Each item is original and has a unique scheme, giving it a singular character of its own. The practical benefit is that, during family lunches or parties, there is no bickering about who took whose drinking cup.

Provocatively ice clear “pleated” lamp-shades with right angle cranked legs stand in contrast with the ornamental composition of shadows that appear on the walls after you switch on the light. The classical design together with an optical projection merges into a “romantic functionalism”.


Composed of fifteen glass pieces arranged in one intriguing ensemble, Eve is a chandelier that combines traditional glassmaking techniques with parametric design. Informed by Hadid’s renowned design language, the composition is fluid and organic, accentuating differences between clear and opaque elements.
Suspended at varying heights, the glass bodies gracefully float in space and create an impressive play of light and shadow. Its sculptural qualities, notable in daylight, open to new dimensions in the evening.

When making the Papilla vases, it was first and foremost the beauty of the glass itself which guided the hand of artist Vladislav Urban. The initial design was made by a Czech artist during the golden era of metallurgical glass in the 1960s. And today, LASVIT has breathed new life into these timeless designs.
The vases are made of hand-blown, massive pieces of glass. Their robust design however often seems tender, almost romantic. The vases received the name Papilla due to their round protrusions which are reminiscent of nipples, or papillae in Latin.
Each vase is made from a combination of crystal and stained golden-brown glass which is then glazed with a pastel-blue finish. Achieving the desired shade of blue is not at all easy, as each gram of the added material can change the final outcom.

Inspired by nature, emotion and a unique frozen moment, this lighting sculpture reminds us of our fascination with water. It captures the perfection of the natural movement when water collects into a drop. The entire composition, as well as the individual elements and their shapes play with the magic of water, air and gravity. The harmonious density gradient highlights this instant, providing sensations of depth and motion.

The fashion elements and softness of fabric are here transformed into glass. One of the objects is based on the technique of Plisse, which rotates around its own axis. The other design is based on layering cracked desks.

Symboll was created by the Czech design studio LLEV. The collection consists of glassware formed by the organic processes of mycelium growth. Although seen in other forms of design, these biotechnological approaches are the first of its kind in glass production. By using natural materials, along with waste from agricultural crops and sawdust, the studio has introduced a revolutionary method for material innovation.   LLEV uses mycelial processes to create the organic moulds for the collection. Since every mycelial mould’s structure changes during the blowing process, each glass object has its own unique imprint – suspending guests between modernity and the beauty of the natural world.   In addition to a candle holder and vase, the Symboll collection also includes water, whiskey and long-drink glasses. Each product is made of recyclable glass and every mould is naturally biodegradable.

Inspired by the craft itself, these vases remind us of the otherwise unseen aspects of glass production – its production errors. Each hand-blown shape is broken into several segments and their edges additionally hammered to create a pattern visually similar to cutting. The individual pieces are reheated and joined into one unit, creating a safe and compact surface, but retaining their intriguing random patterns.

This champagne bucket carries his classic elegance, organic curves as well as hint of his futuristic tendencies. The Fungo chandelier was inspired by the fascinating shape of a mushroom growing on wood. Yet this mushroom didn’t grow in the forest, but was discovered in the basement of Lasvit’s glassworks. The Campana brothers chose to blend this newfound accidental theme with Lasvit’s glassmaking tradition and fuse their techniques with natural materials. The resulting artwork displays a striking contrast between the formal rigidity of the chandelier’s wooden structure and the blown-glass that appears to emerge spontaneously from the wood.

Polygon bowls expand a design concept developed for Polygon lighting collection which shows light, glass and the glass-cutter’s art in perfect mathematical harmony. Combining the traditional shape and Plato’s logic with the polygonal network often used in 3D modeling programs, Polygon creates a new and unusual décor.
