Introducing Rosa, a new lighting design by Martin Gallo

From the heart of the desert to the elegance of interior spaces, Rosa by Martin Gallo is a poetic new lighting design now joining Lasvit’s collection. First introduced at Downtown Design Dubai, this sculptural piece captures the quiet determination of climbing plants, translating natural growth into hand-blown glass.

First unveiled at Downtown Design Dubai, Rosa now finds its way from the poetic landscape of the Desert in Bloom installation into the intimacy of homes. In Dubai, it appeared among crystal blossoms that rose along slender stems, a scene inspired by rare moments when the desert shifts into life. Rosa now continues this story in interior settings, offering a lighting design shaped by natural growth and thoughtful craft.

What is Rosa?

Rosa is a sculptural lighting piece inspired by the steady rise of climbing plants that reach toward light. It brings this slow motion into glass, with forms that guide the eye upward. The piece introduces a touch of nature’s quiet determination into contemporary interiors.

What inspired the design?

Designer Martin Gallo found his starting point in the slow motion of climbing plants. He was interested in the way their stems seem to float as they make their way toward light.

“What matters to me here is movement. In flora it is so slow, almost invisible, so you have to look closer,” he says.

Rosa translates this idea into glass, capturing a sense of growth that feels steady and natural.

How big is Rosa?

Like the plants that inspired it, Rosa is naturally adaptable, built from elements that connect, repeat, and respond to each interior. Its modular design allows it to stay small and intimate, ideal for alcoves or reading corners, or expand into a sweeping composition that animates a spacious living room or dining area.

This range makes it suited for private residences, where each project asks for its own scale and rhythm. The design can shift in height, length, and density, allowing it to settle into its surroundings with ease.

How is Rosa made?

True to Lasvit’s tradition, every element of Rosa is hand-blown in Ajeto in North Bohemia, where a region with centuries of glassmaking tradition. The organic shapes emerge through a process that is as fluid and precise as nature itself as every detail shaped by human hands and guided by artistic intent.

Where did Rosa debut?

Rosa premiered as the centerpiece of Lasvit’s Desert in Bloom installation at Downtown Design Dubai. The installation explored the rare moments when the desert shifts into life, with crystal blossoms rising along slender stems.

Rosa introduced a new expression of upward motion showing how a lighting object can grow into space rather than dominate it. Its debut offered visitors a clear view of how the design behaves when it moves from a single element into a larger composition.
