Glass That Belongs: Three Installations for a Palace by the Sea

Set within a restored 18th-century royal residence, Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr celebrates a sense of place through a careful balance of heritage and contemporary design. Lasvit was invited to create a series of lighting installations that would reflect the site's layered history while adding moments of quiet presence and lightness.

A Skylight That Speaks Softly

In the atrium lobby, a transparent glass installation follows the curvature of the skylight above. Formed from minimalist glass rods without internal lighting, the piece interacts with daylight rather than dominating it. Its subtle geometry echoes the domed architecture, offering a sense of weightlessness and calm that shifts with the sun.

A Moment Held Mid-Air

In one of the hotel’s key function spaces, Lasvit created Clouds, a suspended installation inspired by the Rabat coastline. Semi-translucent glass forms, paired with a mirrored ceiling, evoke the fleeting play of sun and vapor above the Atlantic. The reflections double the installation’s volume and amplify its light, turning the ceiling into a horizon.

Geometry in Motion

Along a grand staircase, an anamorphic sculpture in sandblasted glass and metal offers a more structured counterpoint. Its geometric pattern comes into focus only from specific angles, inviting movement and exploration. Externally lit, it acts as both artwork and architectural punctuation, anchoring the vertical space without overwhelming it.
