Prunus in Bloom

Prunus in Bloom

A poetic tribute to Taichung City's native flower created for the CMP Midtown residential development in Taichung, this large-scale installation transforms a simple idea into a glowing mass of hand-blown blossoms suspended in a geometric metal structure. With nearly one thousand unique glass flowers, the piece balances delicacy and structure, tradition and innovation.

From Sketch to Structure

The installation captures the beauty of Taichung's native Prunus campanulata in a suspended composition of stylized flowers. This piece honors the city's botanical heritage while reimagining it through contemporary glass artistry.

Craft & Technique

Lasvit's artisans hand-blew 970 unique glass flowers in three delicate pink tones, each shaped individually. Woven into a minimalist metal framework of square-profile rods, the flowers form a dense yet airy volume. Of these, 180 flowers are internally illuminated with LED technology.

Balancing Lightness and Order

The interplay between organic and geometric elements defines the installation's visual identity. Fragile glass flowers contrast with the precise metal frame, creating visual rhythm that feels both timeless and contemporary. Light animates the sculpture, balancing nature and structure.
